Privacy Policy
A plain description of what this site does and doesn't collect — not a compliance claim.
Best Furniture Store is a static publication: pages of furniture-store rankings and editorial content, built ahead of time and served to you as-is. There are no user accounts, no log-ins, and no saved profiles. This page describes what actually happens when you visit, rather than reciting a standard compliance clause we haven't independently verified.
What we collect
When you load a page on this site, our hosting provider records standard server logs — things like your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request, and your browser's user agent. This is the same baseline logging almost every website on the internet generates; it's used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing outages, and it is not tied to a name or an account, because this site doesn't have accounts.
We do not sell, rent, or share visitor data with data brokers. We use Google Analytics, delivered through Google Tag Manager, to understand which pages are useful, in aggregate. That collects page views, which links and buttons you click (for example, an outbound link to a store's own website, or a directions link), your device and browser type, and an approximate location — city-level, derived from your connection, not GPS or a precise address. It does not receive your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information; the store-related events it records describe which business page you looked at, not who you are. You can opt out using your browser's tracking controls, an extension like Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or by enabling Global Privacy Control (GPC), where supported.
Forms and email
This site does not run a contact form that stores submissions in a database. The Contact page links directly to an email address. If you email us — for a correction, a data update, or anything else — that message and any information you include in it lives in our email system, the same as any email you'd send a business directly. We use it to respond to you and, where relevant, to correct a store record; we don't add it to a marketing list.
Cookies and local storage
This site does not set tracking or advertising cookies. Your browser may still store small amounts of technical data locally — for example, to remember scroll position or a dismissed banner — but nothing here is used to build an advertising profile or follow you across other websites.
One exception, described plainly: pages carry a "Stores near you" module. To show it, we read the approximate location — city and coordinates, not a street address — that our hosting provider resolves from your connection at the network edge, and store that in a first-party cookie called bfs-geo on your device, typically for about 30 days. We use it only to show you nearby stores in our records; it is never sold or shared with anyone. If you type a city into that module instead, the same cookie holds what you typed rather than the network-derived guess. Clearing your cookies removes it, and the module falls back to asking for a city again.
Data about furniture stores
The store records that make up this site's rankings — names, addresses, phone numbers, hours — describe businesses, not individual people, and are drawn from public sources described on How We Rank. If a store record contains an error, or you're a store owner who wants information updated, see our corrections policy.
Third-party links
Store profiles link out to a retailer's own website where we have one on record. Those sites are operated independently of this one and have their own privacy practices, which we don't control and haven't reviewed.
Changes to this policy
If what this site collects changes — new analytics, a working contact form, anything else — we'll update this page and the date above rather than leaving it to describe a version of the site that no longer exists. For questions, email editorial@bestfurniturestore.com.
