Best Glam Furniture Stores (2026): A Style Guide

Glam furniture is built on reflective and richly textured materials — velvet, brass, mirrored glass, lacquer — meant to catch light rather than recede into a room.

What defines glam

Glam style leans on materials chosen for shine and texture: tufted velvet upholstery, polished or brushed brass and gold-toned metal, mirrored or lacquered surfaces, and marble or marble-look stone tops. Silhouettes are often curved rather than boxy, and the overall effect is meant to read as considered luxury rather than restraint.

Velvet upholstery needs a different care approach than a standard woven fabric: it crushes and shows pressure marks more visibly, and needs brushing, with a soft velvet brush, in the direction of the nap, to keep its finish even. Ask about the pile — a higher, denser pile generally resists crushing and shows wear less than a thin, low-pile velvet.

Metal finishes vary in real durability: plated brass over a base metal will show wear at contact points over years of use, where solid brass develops a patina rather than exposing a different metal underneath. Lacquered surfaces show fingerprints and scratches more readily than a matte finish — worth knowing before putting a lacquered piece somewhere with heavy daily traffic.
